What Jaie's Journey Inc is about ...

This is a public page to remember Jaie by and to help those out there struggling, to see the reality of those left behind, when we lose someone in this manner. We are not better off without you on any way.

We hope to raise awareness of depression and other related mental health issues and illnesses. Our goal is to help remove the stigma and mystery surrounding mental health illnesses and also the taboo subject of suicide.

No one is judging you if you are considering harming yourself. We simply wish to show you that many people care. Many people want to help to work through this with you. So please let yourself be helped.

In Australia, suicide takes the lives of over 3000 per year (2017 ABS). Suicide takes over twice the amount of lives each year, which the national road toll claims.

The ABS figures from 2013, to the current date (January 2019), states that suicide is the leading cause of premature death in Australia for ages 15yrs-44yrs.

2014 saw 2864 lives lost to suicide. 2015 saw this increase to 3027 lives lost to suicide. 8 people die in Australia per day, to suicide.

6 OUT OF EVERY 8 DEATHS PER DAY ARE MALES. 75% of those who die by suicide are males. That is an extra 343 lives taken by mental illness and suicide.

In 2016, the Royal Flying Doctor Service released figures that males in remote areas have a 1.8 times higher risk of suicide and in very remote areas it goes up 2.9 times higher risk, than their counterparts who live in major populated areas.

Jaie's Journey INC also tries support those bereaved by suicide of a loved one.

My son is so much more than those last few minutes and hours, just prior to his death. So, if by advocating, enables us to help prevent just one more death by suicide, then that is all we can hope for.

We are based in Queensland Australia but we share relevant links of other international support organisations, as we are well aware that people everywhere need help. EMAIL: jaies_journey@outlook.com http://youtu.be/IJxuW2MaLrs
